Varsity Boys Tennis Regionals
October 10, 2016
The West Bloomfield varsity boys tennis team was within arms reach of reaching their team goal of advancing to states, last Thursday, October 5. The Lakers almost achieved their goal of moving on to the MHSAA state tournament, however the team fell two points short and did not advance.
Although last year the boys moved down a division, the region remains a challenge for the varsity team. Seven of the eight teams were able to progress forward to the second round of regionals.
Kyle Crane, a senior, ended his last season with a defeat by Brother Rice. His position during the tournament was 4 doubles. He and his partner, freshman Jacob Strome, fought hard to try and overcome such a deficit. However, their valiant efforts were not enough. Kyle was proud to say, “We balled out and played our best against tough schools so it was a life memory.”
Although two points short, the senior boys were proud of their successes and how close they came to reaching their goals. They are more motivated for next year and hope to get farther than this year.
