Families came together to watch their children’s success in orchestra at the All City Orchestra Concert held last Wednesday night.

The All City Orchestra Concert consists of all of the West Bloomfield School District’s orchestras. This includes the orchestras of both the middle schools, the high school, and also the Oakland Early College Symphony Orchestra.

“This concert is set up so that all of the students and parents can hear the various developmental stages of the school district’s orchestra program, thus inspiring the incipient string players to know that they can achieve the level of the WBHS Symphonic Orchestra with hard work and dedication,” said Mrs. Linda Trotter, Orchestra Director at both Orchard Lake Middle School and West Bloomfield High School.

The concert was a source of inspiration for students to keep improving on their instrument. By hearing the advanced string players of the Oakland Early College Symphony Orchestra, musicians from the middle schools saw how the school district can help them become the string player they want to be.

Even though the concert was a success, students are already looking for what they can improve on. “We played the finale really well, but we could probably improve on playing louder and more together,” said freshman Lainey Morton, who plays the cello in the WBHS Concert Orchestra.

The next event that the WBHS Symphony Orchestra will be involved in is the United We Walk ceremony on Sunday, January 15.
