Cheering their way to the top

Competition overview

WBHS Competitive Cheer has been off to a fast start these past few weeks with competitions the past two weekends.

In the first competition, the Lakers started off strong. They were in fourth place up until the third round. After they did not finish this round, however, they dropped down and finished in seventh. This was not the start they were hoping for, but they used this as field for improvement.

In the second competition, this past Saturday, the Lakers placed 3rd with a total of 718 points. This score was strong enough to beat Southfield, who scored 600 points. Already the Lakers have improved significantly, placing much higher than the first competition.

The cheerleaders collectively agreed that there were some mistakes that were made which they can reduce in order to generate a higher score. They also commented that one of the tumbling passes was wrong, which was another factor in reducing their score.

The Lakers best round was the third, in which they scored in the 300s, a very strong score especially considering how early in the season it is.

Over the past two weeks the Lakers have showed tremendous improvements. Their next competition is January 11 in Royal oak at 6:30 pm. The scores have reflected the Lakers’ hard work in between competitions and they look to get the best score of the season at their upcoming competition. Come cheer on the girls who cheer you on!
