To players and spectators alike was apparent from the first quarter that the Lady Lakers would have to work as hard as they can to beat the Blackhawks. Unfortunately, the final score left the Lakers in the dust at 32-49, losing to the Blackhawks.

The Lady Lakers were definitely off to a slow start with the first quarter ending at 3-23, in the Blackhawks favor. By halftime, the score was 14-33 and the Blackhawks were still winning. The third quarter was starting to get better with the score at 26-37. Hopes for the Lakers coming from behind quickly rose and diminished shortly after.

The team was already looking for improvements despite the terrible loss.

“We were rushing a lot and we struggled to get the ball across the court. We just need to put in that work during practice so we can get over this,” said Mya Bobo, the only freshman on the varsity team.

The Lady Lakers next target will be the Oxford Wildcats. The game will be away and surely exciting. Better luck next time, Lady Lakers…
