Laker Athletes Celebrate Signing Day

For a dozen graduating athletes, their college decisions were made official after school on Wednesday, February 2 at West Bloomfield High School’s annual Signing Day. The student athletes signed National Letters of Intent, signifying a continued athletic career and final commitment to their selected school.

It was a joyous time for the students, who were both anticipating the future and reminiscing their many memories culminating to their signing. “I want to thank everyone for supporting me and my teammates throughout my career at WB,” said Garrett Winn, signed with the United States Naval Academy for football. “Go Navy, Beat Army!”

Kyle Prewitt is also thankful; he signed with Chatham University for lacrosse. It was no easy decision, but an obvious one once weighing his options. “I made my decision in the fall. Chatham University has a good program for what I want, plus I get to play lacrosse there.” Kyle and Garrett weren’t the only ones, however, that signed with the perfect school.

Mia Dronchi signed with Siena Heights University for soccer; Chris Kalaj and Josh Turner signed with Davenport University for football; Davion Johnson signed with University of Miami for football; Nathaniel Lewis signed with Albion College for baseball; John-Paul Morris signed with Wayne State University for football; Nicole Schwerin signed with Lawrence Tech for softball; Kyle Wilson signed with Hocking College for football; Davis Wong signed with Michigan State University for tennis; and Vanessa Vigier signed with Kalamazoo College for volleyball.

Congratulations to all of these Laker athletes for making WBHS proud!
