A Suffocating Early Deficit Derails A Laker Victory

SOUTHFIELD- A deep deficit suffocates the Lakers’ hopes of a triumphant road victory.
Coming off of a devastating loss to North Farmington High School, the Lakers Varsity Boys Basketball team looked to improve their 11-6 record on the road against struggling 7-8 Southfield A & T on Wednesday, February 22.
The Lakers’ sluggish first quarter produced a 10 point deficit which proved to be impenetrable by the Laker offense. West Bloomfield quickly bounced back with a 17-13 edge to finish the first half and bring down their deficit to a mere 6 points. West Bloomfield’s momentum persisted throughout the third quarter as they further cut down Southfield’s lead to 5. The Lakers overall displayed a hard fought 4th quarter fight as they finished with a 3 point advantage for the quarter, however fell short by two overall, 62-60.
It was clear that this Laker team fought with conviction as Tre Harvey (junior) totaled an impressive 26 points, while Kevin McAdoo (senior) finished with a solid 22 points. With this action packed loss, the Lakers diminish their record to 11-7, while their OAA record stands at 5-3.
The Lakers look to bounce back from this two game skid as they take on Rochester Adams High School with their 3rd straight road match.
