2017 Lakers Lacrosse Season

Ryan Horwitz and Ari Felhandler

The 2017 lacrosse season is approaching swiftly as the snow begins to melt and the flowers begin to blossom. The Lakers struggled last year with a losing record as they endured a long, tough regular season schedule. Last year’s Lakers fought with conviction and pride in their first round playoff match against talented Walled Lake Central High School, 11-10. This year, however, they look to turn things around with a season debut win against Henry Ford II, a home game opener on Friday March 24th at 7pm. The Lakers have been tirelessly working to better prepare for this vital season throughout the offseason with weekly training sessions on Saturdays and captain-led practices, periodically planned each week. Their daily practices will be held at Oakland yard after school from 3pm-5pm. Many new players have flooded in to join the team and play hard this season, which will start March 13th and continue on until mid May. Jordan Beletskiy, a junior playing his first season of lacrosse, said, “Lacrosse is an active contact sport where you can meet new friends. I’m super stoked for the new season.” This mighty Laker team is in vital need of additional players in order for the squad to have fully effective and competitive season. If you or someone you know might be interested in playing lacrosse, come to tryouts on March 13th at Oakland Yard from 3-5 pm. However, if you choose to attend, make sure you are able to turn in all the necessary forms and payments for the 2017 lacrosse season.
