New Vending Machines in Athletic Hallway

Feeling thirsty? Take a stroll down the athletic hallway behind the gym to check out the brand new Gatorade sponsored vending machine at West Bloomfield High School.
This state of the art machine is an obvious upgrade from the previous machine, which was out of date and often broken into. Besides Gatorade drinks, the new vending machines also offers Gatorade protein drinks and energy bars.
“It’s really cool. I like a lot of the healthy stuff that they have put in the machine. They have a credit card slot, that helps me because I always carry a credit card, I never have cash on me,” said junior Joshua Allison.
Almost all vending machines at WBHS now offer healthy alternatives to typical vending machine fare, in order to offer up healthy snack options to students throughout the day. Vending machines in the halls of WBHS have increasingly offered snacks such as baked chips, popcorn, granola bars, breakfast bars, and low-fat fruit snacks instead of other junk foods.
To students, however, this new Gatorade machine stands out. “I think it’s way better than the rest because every other vending machine has all this diet stuff, which is pretty nasty to me. It’s good that they’re adding new stuff,” said freshman Dalon Johnson.
This machine stands out for another reason, as well: the price. Every item sold in the vending machines is $2.00, which is a considerable price hike to some students. “I think it should be $1.50 like every other drink, but the protein shakes are so good. Try the vanilla one!” said senior Sydney Pack.
