HOWELL- The Lakers devour the spotlight set on the long-awaited regional trophy.

The valiant Lakers prevailed despite a tirelessly fought match by Howell High School. The Lakers’ offense exploded early on, dominating the board and maintaining the offensive tempo. This Lakers 36-23 halftime lead however diminished rapidly in the onset of the second half with a Highlander run.

Howell wrestled back and curbed the Lakers’ 16 point lead to finish the third ahead, 44-43. This was not the Highlanders’ first counter with a late comeback. Howell had just overcome a 13 point deficit over Milford High School to win 53-51.

Howell was able to take a lead as large as three points, however Kevin McAdoo and the Lakers proved to display the clutch, late game capabilities exhibited all season long. McAdoo was able to convert on a vital three point attempt to lift the Lakers to a 46-46 tie with 3 minutes left. McAdoo continued to propel the Lakers above their competition at the free throw line, hitting two with less than two minutes left.

The Lakers proved to be too much for the Highlanders’ valiant yet short run comeback. All in all, West Bloomfield finished above Howell 58-51.

The Lakers were led by Kevin McAdoo who finished with an astonishing career high of 40 points. Just behind him, Tre Harvey (junior) ended with 9 points.

The Lakers look to continue their playoff push on Wednesday against Novi at 7 PM.
