HOSA Excels At States

From April 27-28, 2017, West Bloomfield High School HOSA students competed at the State Leadership Conference located at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City.

Students participating in the conference included Jacob Allen, Mikayla Araquil, Rachel Arkin, Nicole Bakkal, Ishan Biswas, Claire Chen, Lyndsey Cooper, Pratham Dhanjal, Emily Falkowski, Ian Goan, Ali Hakim, Abbaas Hakim, Hasnat Ahmed, Kyler Hwa, Jensen Hwa, Mark Kamash, Christina Karana, Katie Kowalewski, Jillian Ladouceur, Athena Lewandowski, Abdullah Mahmood, Galen Mansoor, Ryad Midani, Pujan Moradiya, Kameron Omron, Simon Perryman, Sundeep Ravella, Nicole Ruza, Fatema Saifuddin, Rohit Samandur, Lindsay Schwartz, Noah Thoma, Joseph Thomas, Sarah Tomkovicz, Nicole Tranca, Lindsey Vassallo, Valerie Walls, Alissa Ward, Brianna Westpfahl, and Sara Zennedjian. To qualify to compete at the state competition, these students had to place in the top ten of their event at the Regional competition.

 

West Bloomfield HOSA’s Biomedical Debate team, consisting of Ishan Biswas, freshman, Abbaas Hakim, freshman, Ali Hakim, freshman, and Sundeep Ravella, freshman, placed fourth in the state.

Rachel Arkin, junior, made it to the International Level Conference in her event, Medical Career Photography. Rachel’s favorite part of being in HOSA was “learning a lot about science and the health science field, and also getting to meet new people.” She is excited “to go to Disney and see all of the events they have planned, and experience such a big HOSA Conference!” This year’s HOSA International Leadership Conference is from June 21st to June 24th, in Orlando, Florida.
