Potluck Pandemonium

Ryan Horwitz

After a long weekend of planning, purchasing, and doubt, the potluck finally happened.

This potluck was not just open to any old high school student. In order to eat, there must have been a contribution made to the potluck. Several students were involved, all juniors, including Stefan Najor, Kameron and Caden Omron, Lucas Lafontaine, Ben Woolverton, and Ryan Horwitz. Caden and Kameron brought a succulent watermelon, as well as a mildly spicy salsa accompanied by tasteful and absorbent tortilla chips. Lucas was responsible for refreshments, and he featured a 2 liter of Pepsi in addition to a 2 liter of Sprite. Stefan brought wonderful danishes and Better Made spicy barbecue chips. Ben perhaps brought the best item of the potluck, a cheese platter. This was a tasteful and delightful addition, exhibiting both salami and pepperoni. And where would  a potluck be without the essentials; plates, cups, napkins, and forks, all provided by yours truly.

The potluck was an ensemble of flavor and the meaning runs deeper than just food. It was a symbol of not only friendship, but kinship. If this potluck proved anything, it was that friends can become brothers, no matter how different they may be. Will there be a potluck next year? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Only time will tell.
