It was a busy Homecoming week at West Bloomfield High School, concluding with the Lakers playing in their annual Homecoming game.

The game against Southfield A&T got off to a fast start, but the Southfield Warriors did not give up easily. The defense for Southfield A&T was nonexistent in the first half as the Lakers led 28-21 after the 2nd quarter.

At halftime, Homecoming Queen and King were awarded to Tre Mosely and Nia Danforth. The Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Floats were shown off, with the Seniors being announced as the winners.

The second half of the game was filled with action with both West Bloomfield and Southfield A&T turning over the ball. Southfield A&T eventually intercepted the ball and scored a touchdown, making it 35-28. They would add onto their lead in the fourth quarter by forcing a safety, making it 37-28

With around 2 minutes left in the game, Anthony May powered in a touchdown, making it 37-35. After a quick possession by the Southfield Warriors, the Lakers would have one more chance. The last minute comeback could not be completed as the Lakers turned it over on 4th down. The Lakers fell to 5-2 in the season, while losing a critical part of their offensive explosiveness in Donovan Edwards. The Lakers face the Red Hot Oak Park Knights this Friday, 7pm at Oak Park.
