Lakers Playoff Preview
October 25, 2018
For the 5th straight year, theWest Bloomfield Lakers have clinched a playoff spot, and will be facing off against Plymouth (6-3) on Friday, October 26.
Almost a year after their last playoff action, the Lakers are looking to avenge their state championship loss last season at the hands of their OAA red rival and eventual champion, Clarkston Wolves. The Lakers are hungry and excited for another shot at the title. They can’t look too far ahead though, as Plymouth is red hot, winning 4 of its last 5 games to qualify for the playoffs. This game can easily go either way for the Lakers. Plymouth is averaging 26 points a game, while the Lakers are averaging 31 points a game.
Also in the playoffs are teams the Lakers faced last year, such as Utica Eisenhower, and former champion Clarkston. Utica Eisenhower won their last five games to qualify for the playoffs, while Clarkston won their first six games, and ended cold on a 1-2 finish. All 3 teams are riding strong finishes last year, and hope to carry that into the playoff season. The Lakers’ side of the bracket is not short of strong competition at all, featuring unbeaten Belleville (9-0) who is playing Dearborn, as well as unbeaten Chippewa Valley who is playing Utica Eisenhower. Other strong teams are Dearborn Fordson(8-2) and Detroit Cass Tech (10-0). This year’s playoff race is far from clear, and it’s anything but easy for our Lakers. This will be a tough road for them, but keep faith! Our L-Boyz have beaten the numbers before. Go Lakers!
