The Couples Are Finally in Paradise
The people rush to their seats as they get ready for the anticipated finale.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, Bachelor In Paradise aired their groundbreaking sixth season finale. The three couples; Hannah and Dylan, Demi and Kristian, and Chris and Katie got engaged on the beautiful beach. Everybody had an opinion when it came to the couples. The show was trending all over Twitter with almost 40,000 tweets.
While the audience was spitting out their thoughts on the show and the relationships. The couple that stood out the most was Demi and Kristian. Demi and Kristian made history becoming the first same-sex couple to reach the final milestone on the show. The viewers’ heartstrings were pulled as Demi proposed to Kristian on the series and stated, “I know that this has been really hard. I’ve put you through struggles and you were always there for me regardless of how much I didn’t deserve it at the time. I never knew that someone could be that patient. There were a lot of things that came between us, mostly myself and my own struggles. Like you said, I came here to find myself. But I found myself in you.” Kristian also offered her own and ring to Demi, stating “I know that the last day in Paradise was the best day of my life and I wouldn’t want to do this life with anyone but you.”
Throughout the season, Demi struggled through her coming out journey, she opened up about her anxiety, learning to accept her identity, and finally became comfortable with herself. Seeing two women get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise is a groundbreaking step towards including the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) couples across reality television.
