A sweeping victory
Lakers Varsity Ice Hockey v. L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders
With strong student attendance the stands were relatively full, it was a great way to start their winter break. Feeding off the vibes of the crowd the game really started with the first goal by # 18 Even Root, senior. It only picked up from there with a goal only five minutes after the first, again by Root. The first period ended with the Lakers already up two.
The Second period opened with an unassisted goal once again by Root. The flow of goals was stopped when the Crusaders scored their first goal only two minutes after Roots’ third goal. The first penalty of the game was on #14 Nick Martin, junior. Another penalty followed closely after on #9 Nathan Salzeider, junior. The second period was just simply not the Lakers’ best with the Crusaders second goal with only four minutes left until the end of the period. This brought the game to 3-2 in favor of the Lakers.
The third period was the Lakers’ time to shine. Only three minutes into the third #8 Ian McDonald, sophomore, scored the Lakers a fourth goal. The fifth goal was scored by #4 Cameron Dickinson, sophomore. He scored yet another goal with four minutes left in the period bringing the score to 6-2. And yet that was not enough for Dickinson; scoring the final goal of the game he brought the final score two 7-2. It was a great game to watch with goal after goal, making it difficult to look away from the ice.
