The American Sign Language (ASL) club meets every second Wednesday of the month to practice and learn new signs while enjoying fun activities and snacks. You don’t have to be in the class to join the club. As long as you show up to the meetings then you’re in the club!
The ASL Club’s first meeting, led by Ms. Shaw, the club sponsor, introduces students to the basics of ASL through fun activities and engaging lessons.
It is open to all grade levels and teaches students how to communicate using ASL. The next meeting is scheduled for October 10.
Freshman Eu’Nique Stroman, who attended the first meeting, said she enjoyed the experience and plans to continue participating.
“The first meeting was really fun,” Stroman said. “I learned a lot of new words, like all the colors in the rainbow and how to describe clothing and hair.”
“Ms. Shaw is really fun,” Stroman added. “She’s really good at what she does, and I’m having a great time in her class.”
The club plans to continue building on vocabulary each month and will include games and activities to help the lessons.
