Lakers’ Varsity Football Seniors Reminisce on their Years at West Bloomfield
This season, as far as West Bloomfield football goes, was one of the best years in recent history. They finished the season 5-4, a winning record despite losing their last game 38-17 to Oxford in the play-in game to the playoffs (meaning they were just one win away from clinching a playoff berth). The team was anchored by stellar defense and an electric offense, anchored by the seniors. The seniors this year had the best year of their four years at the school, and that is something they should be proud of.
The seniors on this year’s Laker football team are as follows: Connor Genrich, Robert Powell, Chris Watkins, Matthew Curtis, Brighton Unaegbu, Tremaine Ross, Austin James, William Piontkowski, Cortez Graham, Lon Jakaj, Jared Johnston, Michael Evans, JJ Bloom, Matt Metzonian, Kean Richey, Jaedan Jackson, Kendon Cowart, Austin Vance, Alex Kay, Shane Sperling, Chris Kirksey and Jacob Seidel.
“It was a great way to finish off our high school careers,” said senior Matthew Curtis, “the fan attendance this year was great.”
“The seniors had their first winning season in three years and just missed out on the playoffs,” said head coach and teacher Ron Bellamy, “We have five senior players scheduled to play college football next season. The seniors helped to put the football program back on the map and we are expecting great things in the future.”
