Advice to freshmen students from their upperclassmen peers

Being a freshman is not the easiest thing in the world. There is a new school and new people and it can become stressful. To help freshmen out, sophomore, junior, and senior students were asked to give freshmen the best advice they have to make this year easy and fun.

Anya Miller, Grade 10 “Join extracurricular activities because you make a lot of new friends and get to do really awesome stuff. Don’t be afraid to try new things either! If you like art but haven’t had a lot of experience doing it, then try art club! Just try to get a lot of interesting experiences!”

Josh Player Grade 10 “Don’t be afraid to ask questions in class”

Zach Brunnk, Grade 10″Do all your homework and assignments and make sure you have test, quizzes, and due dates written in your planner. The one thing you don’t want is to forget about test and assignment due dates because that bad score can really drop your grade.”

Kendall Veasey, Grade 10″Getting involved in clubs and sports is the best way to make friends. Surround yourself with people that will support you no matter what. And don’t get behind!”

Dana Korogodsky Grade 10 “Make sure you keep all of your papers organized. Manage your time wisely. Don’t procrastinate! Don’t be afraid to ask any adults or fellow classmates for any kind of help if you need it. And try to have fun! Get involved with after school activities that interest you.”

Lauren Zimmerman, Grade 10 “Try to start out strong and keep organized through the year. You won’t do well if your backpack is a mess. Keep dividers and try to remember to bring everything you need everyday. Teachers appreciate when students are prepared.”

Chris Jadan, Grade 10  “If I had to give one piece of advice to incoming freshman, it would have to be to get involved! There’s an extensive amount of clubs, sports, and other extra-curricular activities within the high school. There’s one for everyone!Aside from the leadership skills and knowledge one gains from getting involved,it also allows to get to know new people and havefun!Give it a shot — be open minded!”
