The West Bloomfield High School’s 2014 Equestrian Season went smoothly
West Bloomfield High School’s equestrian team celebrates their second season. The Equestrian team participates in three meets, all at the beginning of September making it a fall sport. They recently had their last meet of the year on Saturday, September 20th, 2014. The meet was at Milford High School, and lasted the whole day, starting at 8am. Team captain Sabrina Burrill, sophomore says “I like how close the team is, and how fun our practices are.” Burrill loves being captain of the equestrian team, and has been on the team for two years. With eight dedicated members, they practice all year and meet each other with their coach Alison Bishop, at least once a month, the whole year. According Bishop, “The riders stepped up and took on new challenges and disciplines this year, becoming more versatile and giving the team a greater opportunity to earn points.” Also, all of the individual riders practice at least once a week, at different barns.
Madison Mckay-Pfeiffer, sophomore, who has been riding since she was seven, says, “I like that it brings a lot of people together with the same interests.” The equestrian team members include Sabrina Burrill, Serena Mansoor and Kelly Shepard, Sabrina Burrill, Madison Hartz, Madison Mckay-Pfeiffer, Ana Weinfurther, Rachel Goldner, Abigail Brickman, and Jessica Stone.

I’m apart of the equestrian team, and I’m so happy I was pushed to do more things I would never consider trying. During the season I have met new people that I’m happy to call my friends.
