College Comes to You

Seniors participate in On-Site Admissions

College Comes to You

On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, West Bloomfield High School (WBHS) held its annual on-site admissions in the media center. For on-site admissions, WBHS invites several local colleges and gives seniors the option to interview with the colleges as an alternative way to apply. The colleges represented include Central Michigan University, Western Michigan University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Tech, Bowling Green State University, Grand Valley State University, University of Michigan – Dearborn, Oakland Community College, Eastern Michigan University, Northwood University, Baker College, and Saginaw Valley State University.

Not only is on-site admissions a good alternative for applying to colleges, but also many of the schools offer various financial aid opportunities and at on-site, representatives help seniors discover and explore different financial aid opportunities for their college. Each senior participating in on-site was required to print out a completed online application of each college they were applying to and a resume. WBHS provided transcripts and ACT scores for all seniors.

“I’m glad we had the opportunity to do on-site admissions instead of applications for some colleges because it helps relieve some stress we have because of college applications,” said senior Emma Huez who applied to Central Michigan University and Grand Valley State University.

With everything seniors have on their plate during this time of year, opportunities such as on-site admissions can be very beneficial for many students. It allows students to apply for college in a less stressful way and explore ways to finance their futures.
