Week of November 10-November 14

Laker Sports Line

After a relatively light week in West Bloomfield athletics, the Lakers were in a transition period from fall to winter sports. Only a few athletic events took place this week while the WBHS Boys hockey team took to the ice for the very first time this season in an exhibition match and the WBHS dive team participated in a regional final. Currently, tryouts for many different teams are occurring this week. The basketball season is coming up and is causing a buzz around the school. This ski team is flying down the slopes as they prep for the upcoming winter meets.

The WBHS Girls dive team competed in a crucial regional meet of which included 35 of the best divers in the region. Melanie Blumer (Senior), Jacqueline Blumer (Junior), and Alexa Johnson (Junior) all demolished their competition and qualified for the major state meet on Friday, November 21. A special mention goes to Junior, Jacqueline Blumer, for coming in 4th overall out of the 35 divers! Good luck!

One significantly proud event took place this week regarding WBHS athletics. Three WBHS students signed their NLI’s this weekend. Robbie Jones (Senior), Zach Allread (Senior), Chandler Sedat (Senior). These students are going to Michigan State University, Northwood University, and Indiana University respectively. Jones and Sedat are going to play baseball and Allread is going to play basketball. These students are true examples of hard work paying off and are role models for the rest of the school.

Also during this past week of exciting events, the West Bloomfield Varsity Hockey team beat Notre Dame Preparatory by a score of 5-2 in their very first scrimmage this season. Things are looking up for the regular season that is sure to be filled with action and excitement.
