Laker Sports Line

Week of November 24 — November 28, 2014

Laker Sports Line

This week West Bloomfield High School’s (WBHS) athletics perhaps had one of the most calm weeks of the year due to the Thanksgiving Break. However, with little athletic action, there was still something for the Lakers to cheer about. The girls JV basketball team took part in some open scrimmages. On Tuesday they played against Lakeland High School, Milford High School, and Lake Orion High School. On Saturday they faced Mott High School, South Lyon East High School, and Detroit Renaissance High School. No scores were kept during the scrimmages; they were just to see where the team lies in terms of skills, abilities of the players, and what assets need to be worked on during the season. Although there were not many sporting events this week, there are many more to come next week. The WBHS Girls basketball teams have multiple matches this week. The Girls Freshman team plays against Clarkston Junior High School (CJHS) @ CJHS on Tuesday, December 2nd. The JV and Varsity teams also have games on Tuesday, WBHS JV @ Clarkston High School (CHS) at 5:30 pm vs CHS and Varsity plays at 7:00 pm, also @ CHS vs Clarkston. The JV and Varsity teams will also play on Friday, December 5th against Walled Lake Central High School (WLC) @ WLC. JV hits the court at 5:30 pm and Varsity at 7:00 pm.

The Boys Varsity hockey team also joins the action this week with a game on Wednesday, December 3rd at 8:00 pm vs Royal Oak High School. The game will be held at Royal Oak Ice Arena. On Saturday, December 6th, the puck drops at 6:30 pm at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Ice Arena, home of the Laker hockey team. They will be facing off against Dewitt St. Johns High School. This week is going to be exciting with fun-filled action and drama, so go out and support your fellow Lakers!
