WB Weekly Wrap-Up 2/23
A summary of all school and club events for the week of February 23, 2015
WINTERFEST, WINTERFEST, WINTERFEST!
The week of February 23, 2015 is Winterfest. Winterfest is a class spirit competition and the winning class gets to engrave it on the Winterfest trophy. There is a large amount of competition between the classes, and points are totaled at the end of the week based off of various competitions. To get points, students dress up for the spirit days: Monday was Laker Nation vs. Everybody, Tuesday was Worldwide Pride Day, Wednesday was Neon Day, Thursday was Laker Soldier, and Friday was Class Color Day: Freshman- Yellow, Sophomore- Red, Junior- Blue, Senior- Black. Another way to gain points was to participate in Penny Wars, which is a way of raising money for Lymphoma and Leukemia research and care. Students put pennies in their own buckets to add points, and added other forms of change or dollars in other grades’ buckets to deduct their points. Lastly, all the grades had specific hashtags they could use on pictures from the week to show their spirit and add points. These hashtags included #WBWinterFresh, #WBWinterSoph, #WBWinterJunior, and #WBWinterSenior. In the end, the juniors ending up victorious with the most points!
SPIRITED FOR NOTHING
On Friday, February 27, a Winterfest Pep-Rally was held during 7th hour. At the exciting event, students competed in many events including a hamster-ball Race, Basketball game, and more! In addition, the Laker Electronic Dance (LED) was cancelled due to a low amount of ticket sales. Needing 400 tickets bought to be considered an acceptable amount of people at the dance, only about 130 were purchased. The class of 2016’s class council worked tirelessly and passionately on this project, and it is very unfortunate to see all the hard work go to waste.
Overall, this week has been filled with competition, class involvement, and cancellations. Watch out for the next weekly wrap-up and have a great week, Lakers!
