Fockey Takes a Fall
The West Bloomfield High School (WBHS) Field Hockey team has played ten games so far in the 2015 season. They struggled through almost all of their games, losing nine out of ten, but five of the nine losses were only by a three point or fewer margin. The Lakers won in a match against the Oakland Snapdragons, a club team that combines players from Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham, with a score of 1-0. On Friday, September 18th, 2015, the Varsity WBHS Field Hockey team played Country Day and lost by a score of 0-7, but this did not crush their spirits. Junior, Natalie Sheibels said, “It was a tough game, but we tried our best. I think in future games we’ll definitely win. The loss will just make us work harder for that win.” While the Varsity Field Hockey team has kept coach Emily Figueroa, the Junior Varsity team has a new coach for the 2015 season, WBHS teacher William Bishop. The Junior Varsity team has done fairly well this year compared to recent years of loss and struggle, tying six games with only four losses. There are only four games left in the 2015 Field Hockey season, and only time will tell how WBHS will end their season.
