Laker Sports Line

Week of October 24-31

This week was a light week with only a few sporting events.

On October 28, the Girls Varsity Volleyball team participated in the lakes and fields tournament, which consisted of Walled Lake Central, Walled Lake Western, and Walled Lake Northern, as well as the fields, which included West Bloomfield, Bloomfield, and Seaholm. The Lakers first defeated Western with set scores of 25-19 and 25-7. Unfortunately, they lost to Central with scores of 21-25 and 16-25. They lost to Northern as well, with scores of 15-25, 25-18, and 10-15. Lindsey DuFresne (senior) had 45 total assists through the night followed by Gabi Allread (senior) and Shannon Heald (senior) with 18 and 13 kills. Also adding to the kill total was Nyla Greer (junior), Vanessa Vigier, and Audrey Kohl (junior) with 11, 6, and 6. Allread and Heald were tearing up the defense with digs, Allread with 23 and Heald with 22. Lauren Powers (junior) and Avra DeYoung (senior) chipped in to the dig total with 18 and 15.

WBHS’s newly founded sailing team hit the water and impressed the spectators to finish in 10th place with a final score of 64 against some of Michigan’s top Varsity sailing programs. This very young Laker team has  for the next 4 years to come and hopefully dominate the waters!

The WBHS Girls Cross Country team made history on Saturday, October 31 as they finished in an impressive 7th place at their region meet.
