Is This Really Relevant?

Each day we are all bombarded with news stories. The problem is, are they really newsworthy? Has anyone ever actually looked at some of the articles that are deemed news? They are downright ridiculous. Articles are not as thoughtful, informative, or as intriguing as they once were. How can one look at today’s news and say that it is of importance? Half of the stories are composed of meaningless celebrity sightings, or human interest stories that are not that interesting. The public should be reading about current events, not the absurd and insignificant pieces that we are seeing on a daily basis.

Here is an article posted from one of the top offenders, The Daily Mail. Why is it crucial information that Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid became Victoria’s Secret Angels? Is this really something we will all be talking about for weeks?

Maybe instead, we should be reading about the health bill stuck in congress that provides compensation to the hero’s of 9/11. THAT is newsworthy.

Our next waste of time article comes from NBCLosAngeles. Apparently a woman had flushed her engagement ring and earrings down the toilet. But wait! the sewer had a low flow that day, so she was able to get them back!

Well that is wonderful for her, but maybe instead we should be focusing on the fact that El Nino could increase the number of West Nile virus cases. Anyone find that a little more important?

The Daily Mail strikes again with another interesting article about the debates. And by interesting article on the debates, we mean an absolutely “riveting” article on Melania Trump’s purse. Yes you read correctly. Her purse.

Instead of focusing on Melania Trump’s fashionable bag, we should be focusing on what her husband Donald, actually spoke about during these debates.

We understand that all news cannot be about world events. There has to be some human interest stories. But there is a major difference between a fascinating story on someone’s life, and idiotic celebrity stalking.

Does it not seem ridiculous to anyone that this is considered news while events like this are actually going on?

And furthermore, how is it any of our business who Gwen Stefani dates or if Jessica Simpson has a good body?

People claim that journalism is a dying field. With more people spending less and less time reading articles, it is not surprise as to why they are not. These articles are not anything I would stop and waste my time on. There are many important events occurring each day, and the world’s journalists are writing about Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy? So who is to blame? Journalists? celebrities? the public? In my opinion, If the public was not so infatuated with celebrities then there would not be a need for trashy stories like these. Not only are they an invasion of privacy for the celebrities themselves, but they are distracting us from what is really important. Today’s journalists need to realize that it is their responsibility to deliver the crucial information that the public needs to know. Last time I checked, Kylie Jenner wearing a mesh top was not crucial information.

Comedian Seth McFarlane said it best;
