Laker Sports Line
Week of November 30- December 5
This week on Laker Sports Line the new winter season of sports has finally arrived.
On Monday, November 30, The Lady Lakers were on the road for their first game of the season. They were able to capture a 49-37 win against Rochester High School. Charlika Stubbs (senior) was a huge piece of the Laker’s offense with great contributions to their effort. She scored 23 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, stole 6, and had 4 assists to her teammates. Taylor Pierce (senior) mustered 7 points and 12 boards along with Destini Cannon (junior) who also scored 7. Overall it was a great season opener for the Ladies with very strong play and gives West Bloomfield High School an idea of what to expect from the Ladies for the rest of the season.
The Varsity hockey team was in action on Saturday, December 5 versus Birmingham High School. It was the first win for the Lakers this season, a 4-2 victory. This game provided an opportunity for some young talent to shine. Andrew Weiss (freshman) scored his first goal as a Varsity hockey player and Matthew Ladoucuer (sophomore) scored 2 goals Saturday night against Birmingham. JD Long (junior), a versatile player on the team, scored the second goal of the night off an assist from Center Cameron Dickinson (senior). The 4 goals were enough to capture the win and improve their record to 1-1.
