This Week on Laker Sports Line
Tuesday was the first game of the week for the boys varsity basketball team and they opposed Oak Park High School this time around. They were successful in this game, but not by much, winning by a single point, finishing 51-50. Trishton Jackson (senior), better known as “Toogie” around West Bloomfield, scored 19 for the Lakers. Also coming up big were Davion Johnson (junior) with 12 points and Kevin McAdoo (junior) with 10 points.
On the 19 of February, a Friday, the varsity basketball team had their second game of the week against Troy High School. They also won this game, this time by a bit more, finishing with a final of 53-44. Harvey, McAdoo, and Tyler Davis (junior) all dropped 12 for the Lakers. Toogie also helped the Lakers by adding 10. These players assisted the Lakers in collecting another win for the season, strengthening their chances for playoffs.
Varsity hockey took the ice versus Lakeland and lost by a goal, 3-4 on the 17. JD Long (junior) and Josh Ramsey (junior) each scored goals off of assists from Drew Warnecke (senior). Ian McDonald (senior) scored the last goal for the Lakers on a power play, but after that they could not score again.
On February 18, the girls varsity basketball team beat Troy High school 41-31. Jamia Elam (freshman) showcased her skills and showed why she’s on varsity, scoring 14 points and grabbing 7 boards. Taylor Pierce (senior) dropped 10 points and finished with 8 rebounds, again very close to a double double. This was another great game for the Lady Lakers and they look to continue their strong game play.
