Cry Less Craft More

One of the most relaxing times in a person’s life is when he or she goes to take a bath to wash the dirt of the day away. Bubble baths are a classic way to make bath time more exciting, but a newer trend has taken the bathing world by storm. Bath bombs are very popular and fun, but unfortunately they can be very expensive, especially when purchasing more than one at once. A simple way to fix this problem is to create your own.
The first bath bomb bound to make a splash is galaxy themed. The ingredients necessary to make the bath bomb are food color, lemon juice, salt (kosher or regular), and one cup of baking soda. To start out, put one cup of baking soda and a few sprinkles of salt into a container and mix the two ingredients well. Next, fill a spray bottle container halfway with water and then fill the remainder with lemon juice leaving just a little room at the top. Afterwards, add about three drops of food coloring (red, yellow, purple, blue, etc.) to the spray bottle. Following this, spray a single spray into the container that holds the dry ingredients and mix the color in. Continue to spray a single spray and mix until the desired color is reached. Repeat these steps with other colors so you have at least three. Finally, pack the different colored mixtures randomly into a circular mold and make sure they are packed tightly together. When done, put the circular mold in the freezer for one hour. A few tips to make this project go as smoothly as possible is to only spray one spray at a time and make sure the bath bomb is completely dry, otherwise it will not fizz

The second bath bomb sure to make your day better looks just like one of the world’s favorite treats – cupcakes. The only things you need to make the base of the cupcake are rice bran oil (or any other light oil), a half cup of citric acid, distilled water, and one and a half cups of baking soda. To start off, mix together the baking soda and citric acid until the mixture turns smooth. Next, dash in oil so the mixture is similar to the texture of wet sand. If desired, start to add a fragrance to the mixture as well. After this is done, drizzle in the distilled water but make sure not to add too much so that it begins to fizz excessively. Once the distilled water is added, cover the water quickly with the mixture and start to blend the ingredients. Once everything is thoroughly mixed, put the concoction into cupcake cups.
The next step is to create the frosting. The ingredients needed for the frosting are two and a half tablespoons of dry egg whites, four tablespoons of warm distilled water, one quarter teaspoon of tartar, one and a half cups of powdered sugar, one tablespoon of SLS (foaming agent), and four to six drops of fragrance. Another important piece to the frosting puzzle is to have a piping bag and nozzle on hand. Begin by mixing the dry egg whites and warm distilled water. Then, add the cream of tartar and SLS and mix well. After that, add powdered sugar to the mixture and put the solution into a blender. Blend for seven minutes. In the end, the fusion should be fluffy and able to form peaks. Finally, quickly put the mixture into a piping bag and frost the cupcakes. When finished, let the cupcakes sit for two to three days.

The last bath bomb is reminiscent of some people’s favorite childhood drink. The ingredients needed for an orange crush bathbomb are: one cup of baking soda, one half cup of citric acid, one half cup of cornstarch, one quarter cup of epsom salt, two tablespoons of almond oil, one half teaspoon of orange essential oil, one tablespoon of water, and orange food coloring or gel. First, mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Then, in a smaller bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients and then mix those ingredients in with the dry. Scoop the mixture into circular molds. Allow the molds to sit for a few minutes and then take them out. Place the bath bombs into an airtight container to allow for the scent to last longer.
