The United States twenty-dollar bill is a denomination of U.S. currency. The seventh U.S. President (1829–37), Andrew Jackson has been featured on the front side of the bill since 1928, while the White House is featured on the reverse side. On Wednesday (April 29th) Jacob J. Lewis, Secretary of Treasury, proposed to replace slaveholder Andrew Jackson with Harriet Tubman, former slave and abolitionist. Lewis also plans to feature women and civil rights leaders on the five and ten dollar bills as well.  Though pictures of Hamilton and Lincoln would remain on the five and ten dollar bills, images of women would be added to the back of both. Lewis has been fighting for this for over 10 months, and finally was able to ask the public for their opinion. President Barack Obama approved to add new faces to the 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills and the release date is still to be determined. On Twitter, Hillary Clinton, running to be the first female president, wrote: “A woman, a leader, and a freedom fighter. I can’t think of a better choice for the $20 bill than Harriet Tubman.” Government officials and presidential candidates have spoken out about who they think would fit best on the bills. The Republican presidential candidates whom were interviewed did not offer an immediate response to the decision. In a September debate, they were asked who they’d put on the $10 bill. Donald Trump and Ted Cruz both agreed it should be Rosa Parks and  John Kasich said Mother Teresa. Though it will be awhile before the final decision is made,  many are very excited to see a well deserved change.
