Summer provides an escape for students to refocus their minds on other subjects, not pertaining to school. The activities students participate in vary from going on vacations, attending camps, working, or just simply taking a breather from the mounting stress and massive pressure assumed during the extensive school year. Some students told Spectrum about their summer plans. Here is what they said:

“Sleep, eat, and probably not be active at all!” -Niha Khan (junior)

“Work. my mom’s Kumon and either at the aquatic center or Coney Island. I’m trying to work a lot, I need money.” -Imaan Singh, junior

“SAT tutoring and summer homework and football, also working out, studying, sleeping, eating” -Matthew Gu (sophomore)

“My cousins, aunt and uncle are visiting us and will be staying with us for a month. We are planning on going to Toronto with them and maybe to Chicago also. I’ll be working on my summer homework throughout the summer though I plan on starting it early. On Saturday, Tuesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon I’ll caddy at OLCC. Throughout the summer I will practice playing tennis and will spend time and hang out with my friends. I’ll watch all the sporting events going on in the summer such as the euro cup and the olympics, and I’ll finally get my drivers license” -Kasper Zemajtis (sophomore)

“Going to Israel for a month and gym grind” -Jake Cohen (sophomore)

“This summer I am going on a 7 week expedition to Alaska. 24 other kids and I go on a bus through Canada and to Alaska, visiting national parks and sights on the way. I look forward to the rewarding experience.” -Josh Carlin (sophomore)

“This summer, I am going out west on a camping trip with 25 other kids. We are spending 5 weeks together 24.7 and unreal bonds will be created. Along with forever lasting friendships. Adventures and things we’ve never seen before will be fun.” -Samantha Bokolor (freshman)
