Career Readiness at WBSD

Preparing Students for Careers
Xello is the platform that the West Bloomfield School District utilizes to help students discover different careers. Beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through senior year, students work on exploring various interests and discovering careers that align with them. During this discovery process, students begin to learn more about who they are, what they might want to do when they finish high school, and the different paths that could lead them to the various careers.
Extending Experiences Beyond the Classroom
Career Readiness activities are provided throughout the school year at all levels. These activities bring together students and industry partners to help students experience what different careers involve and how what they are learning in school can be applied to the outside workforce. From field trips, to zoom meetings, to hands-on experiences in the school. Students have many opportunities to discover different career paths. Check out some of the activities that our students have participated in.
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes at West Bloomfield High School offers students a valuable opportunity to gain real-world skills and explore future career paths. Taught by experienced industry professionals, these courses are open to all students and are designed to provide hands-on learning that prepares them for both entry-level positions in the workforce and success in college. Many CTE classes also offer the chance to earn college credit, giving students a head start on their postsecondary education. Whether a student is planning to go directly into a career or continue on to college, CTE classes provide the tools, knowledge, and experience they need to succeed. Check out all the opportunities!

Career Video Library
An important component of Career Readiness is to really know if you are passionate about the field and if you would be a right fit. To help in this area, the Digital Media Arts classes have been working on creating a database of different careers by interviewing the professionals that are actually in that field. Click on the career path that interests you and listen to what the professionals have to say. This library is updated on a regular basis.
