Recap: Fall PTO Meeting

Parents of juniors and seniors met at the Fall Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting  at West Bloomfield High School, for an informative presentation on how to prepare for their children for college Monday, Oct. 17.

The PTO is a necessary group within the school district, that consists of a dedicated group of district parents willing to organize the school functions that WBHS can’t. These functions include the Senior All Night Party and Family Fun Night.

The meeting began with a student report from Student Leadership Representatives Adam Ben-Moche and Sarah Albani, both juniors. Immediately following was Mr. Patrick Watson with a principal’s report. These two reports highlight what goes on in the school and some concerns from both the principal and the students.

The bulk of the meeting was a seminar with Mrs. Monica Burgess, a counselor at West Bloomfield High School. She informed the parents about the challenges they may anticipate getting their children into college and what different colleges offer.

After Mrs. Monica Burgess gave her presentation, the PTO got right to business and voted on various budget issues and talked about future volunteering opportunities. The leaders of the PTO also announced possible fundraising options they could do to help raise money for the PTO. According to the PTO, any money that is raised would go directly back into the school.

If you or your parents, wish to attend the next PTO meeting, the meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 17th.
