Logan Lessing is a senior in high school and an all-around go-getter. Whether it is on land or in the water, Lessing sets his goals and meets them.
Lessing has been swimming since middle school. He uses swim to help meet and exceed personal goals. In the water he is able to stay active year round. Staying active has helped him become a two time state finalist in the fifty freestyle and the one hundred freestyle.
“It hasn’t always been easy but I’m thankful to my coaches and dad for supporting me to be better.”
Outside the pool, his love for water continues through boating, fishing, and scuba diving. Specifically, scuba diving. Lessing has been diving with his dad for the past 9 years. His dad and the friends he made in dive, instilled in him the importance of volunteering and teaching others the passion for this sport.
Lessing has trained and received all the skills to become a Divemaster. When he turns 18 in February, he will receive his Dive Master certification. This is the first step in his professional diving certifications and allows him to start finding jobs and teaching more extensively. His favorite part of diving is the teaching to which he’s been volunteering for the past 9 years.
“It frees my mind of all the stuff going on in my life. It helps me build connections and share in the passion I’m happy to teach,” said Lessing.
On land, he loves to play volleyball with friends and recreational groups. This is more of a testament to his easy going and extroverted personality above all else because of the way he met his group he now plays with twice a week.
“Basically, I just walked up to a group of people and asked if I could play. Now they’re like my second family and one even invited me to his wedding last June,” said Lessing.
Volleyball has given him a chance to branch out and meet new people coming from different backgrounds and life experiences.
“Volleyball is love. Volleyball is life,” said Lessing
Now, when it comes to school, Lessing isn’t exactly a big fan but is really smart and likes to learn new things in an outside of school environment. He’s got a love for learning that goes beyond textbooks and lectures.
“The most important part of high school is enjoying yourself and finding out what you love to do, ” said Lessing.”
Lessing says he plans to go to college and get a degree in either economics or political science for a future in the government or pursuing entrepreneurship.
“I’m excited for the next step in taking the big leap,” said Lessing
Going forward he hopes to find something he loves to do. Lessing believes if you do something you love you’ll never work another day in your life. A true example of his laid back nature that strikes a balance between fun and responsibilities.
Outside of school and extracurricular activities he finds good times with his family and friend group. Lessing says his friends are his life and he’d do nearly anything for them because he knows they’d do the same for him.
He has brought his love of playing volleyball to his friend group. Although Lessing likes to stay active, he also finds enjoyment hanging out and relaxing while they watch movies and make memories. They have bonfires frequently and random adventures while Lessing says they’re just trying to enjoy senior year.
“I’m sad it’s my last year of high school but I’m excited for the next step,” said Lessing.
Lessing is always finding new and exciting ways to learn and improve. Learning from his peers in scuba diving, to his family and friends. He enjoys new life experiences and says overall he thinks that’s what life’s all about.
