Hey you! Yeah, you! If you haven’t heard of T.E.A.M Envorg yet, you’re missing out. T.E.A.M stands for Together for Environmental Awareness & Management and their main goal is to educate the community about environmental issues and inspire a positive change. “We bring people together to raise awareness of the climate crisis and share practical solutions to help protect our planet.” Said Areeba Aalam, the co- founder and co-president of T.E.A.M. These matters are definitely pressing and it feels good to know there is an organization pushing people to get involved and do their part.
T.E.AM recently attended a Honey Harvest event hosted by Bees in the D on October 15th. They learned how to extract honey from honeycombs, bottled them up for sale, and learned about the different roles bees have in their lifetimes.
It seems like T.E.A.M is taking into consideration different issues they want to help out with regarding our planet, and making them fun and educational events for people to go to. “Making a difference while still having fun is definitely the best part about T.E.A.M. The issue of our environment is one that is urgent, so being able to take small steps with a fun group of people is really great.” Said Maddie Johnson, The PR Manager of T.E.A.M.
Another event coming up soon that T.E.A.M will be attending is the Teen Conservation Summit at the Detroit Zoo. This event will be taking place on November 8th and will have engaging workshops and guest speakers. “While we already submitted our attendance form, sign-ups are still open for individual registration. We will provide lanyards for those attending.” Said Aalam. T.E.A.M currently has around 50 members including board members, volunteers and researchers. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking for more. “We welcome anyone interested in contributing to our cause- the more, the merrier!” Aalam added.
Members of T.E.A.M have only good things to say as well. The secretary of T.E.A.M, Amelie Burtka said, “The best part about being in T.E.A.M is Having the opportunity to actually take action and help the environment in ways that are important to me.” If T.E.A.M’s inspiring cause sounds in any way appealing, 100% join! The application linked in the bio of their Instagram page is the way to do it @team.envorg. If you are interested in working with T.E.A.M in hosting volunteer and/or research events, sponsorships, etc; you can email them at [email protected]. Don’t wait to join before it’s too late!
