The seniors have shown how much of an asset they are to the team. Over and over the seniors have had amazing times. They make up a huge part of the team with 14 seniors swimming. This sport is a huge time commitment and therefor this has become the boys life.”You start your homework during the day as you went along, during lunch other classes when they are more chill. when you get home you just have to hammer-down on your homework you don’t have time from any other extra activities. Josiah Bromley WBHS Senior commented on the amount of work, “You start your homework during the day as you went along, during lunch other classes when they are more chill. when you get home you just have to hammer-down on your homework you don’t have time from any other extra activities.” Their practices started early in the morning and go late at night. 31/2 hour practices were constant during their season. Swimmers can often been seen as graceful, cutting through the water. However Senior Jacob Schmitt shared a story with us about a not so graceful moment. “So, I’m at the groves meet my junior year, right? This is in the middle of the season so I have a pretty good hold on what to do on blocks and in the pool and I had been improving a lot. So the official tells us to get ready and we bent down to line up and he flashes the light to tell us to start. So everyone, including me, leaps off the blocks into the water but my footing was off. So all I managed to do is falcon kick my foot 1,000 miles an hour backward on the block as I fell straight down into the water.” Between school, swim and some injuries it is clear to tell how dedicated these boys were to the school and the swim team. Their additions to the team are some that will be felt.
