再见中文俱乐部 (Goodbye Chinese Club)!

Ashley Thoms, Writer

The Chinese Club at West Bloomfield High School is a relatively new club, only now on its second year of existence. The seniors – Ana Weinfurther, Sophia Gahutu, and Hayden Neubeck – have participated in many activities over the past two years that allowed students and seniors to gain a greater understanding of one of the most prominent cultures in the east. Chinese Club has offered many experiences for its members such as the day where they all made Chinese art and another meeting where they learned how to write calligraphy in Chinese characters. Seniors have also been able to enjoy noodles, dumplings, and other food popular in the culture. On some days, members could even participate in a spirited game of ping pong. The club, although young, has provided many invaluable experiences for the seniors who are sad to leave the happy atmosphere behind. While some seniors took Chinese and spent a year or two learning the language, the club provided a space where students could take more time to learn additional information about the culture that they could not have learned by taking the class alone.
