WBHS HOSA Takes Regionals

Over 150 Health Science Club students competed at the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Region Four Leadership conference held at Fraser High School. 84 students qualified for the State Leadership Conference by getting in the top ten, and in addition 12 individuals and one group placed in the top three in their event.

Students chose from over 40 different competitive events to compete in. These events included Knowledge Tests, Health Professional Events, Leadership Events, and Teamwork events. The most popular were Medical Terminology, Medical Math, and Health Career display.

Teachers Kelli Danton, Liza Zanotti, and Mark Smith were all present at the conference. Danton, Zanotti, and Smith were all busy throughout the day manning and judging events. They plan to take 50 students to the State Leadership Conference, which is held at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City from April 27th to April 28th.

The students who placed in the top three in their event from WBHS were Ishan Biswas, Imaan Singh, Rachel Arkin, Abbaas Hakim, Harshini Murali, Ziri Canela Morales, Ali Hakim, Garrett Ginter, Sundeep Ravella, Jensen Hwa, Marissa Stone, Pratham Dhanjal, Kyler Hwa, Zay Douglas, Valerie Walls, and Emily Falkowski. These students, along with other students who placed in the top ten in their event all qualified for the state competition in April.

Congratulations to all of the students who competed in HOSA!
