WEST BLOOMFIELD Girls Swim and Dive took 3rd place at League Finals. At Royal Oak High School, more than half of the Girls Swim and Dive Team placed in the top 16 of their individual events and relays. Mattie Smith qualified for States in the 100 Breaststroke. She will be swimming at the State Meet on the weekend of November 16th.

Leagues for Swimming and Diving happened over the course of three days, with diving and swimming each lasting two days. Wednesday was the preliminary stage for swimming and Thursday was the preliminary stage for diving. Many swimmers felt ecstatic to start off the league meet. Freshman Avery Campbell said “The energy at leagues was very prominent. Everyone was happy and ready to swim” and sophomore Thea Patrusca said “It was fun and being with the team really made it a great experience”.

Friday was finals for swimming and diving. All three divers who competed placed in top rankings and the swim team got 1st place in four events! 500 Freestyle Champion Megan Neeley said “It was really fun to have great competition and it pushed me to do my best.” The whole atmosphere on the pool deck was exciting. “It was great getting to qualify in more events than last year and to be with my team” commented junior Natalia Luna.
