Zara Eatery could be your new favorite middle eastern restaurant. This is a family owned restaurant with a large variety of middle eastern foods. They are newly opened in 2025 and according to the reviews, it is getting the positivity and support it deserves. I love going here and it seems like a lot of other people do as well, looking at the reviews.
Before I went to Zara Eatery, I checked the menu and the reviews on the car ride over. It was rated well online, which gave me very high hopes. My dad found out about this restaurant at the barber shop as he was getting his hair cut, since his barber’s family owns it. My dad and stepmom went once before while I was at school, which was their first time. They said that it was very good and wanted me to try it because I asked- about getting Middle Eastern food. On our way there, I asked my dad questions about what he ordered and was brainstorming what to get. I decided on getting a shawarma and was a little skeptical, since I tend to be a tough judge with food.
I was there for the first time, it was October 2nd in the afternoon since school was off that day. The restaurant is in West Bloomfield on Orchard Lake Road, only about 15 minutes from the high school. When we walked into the restaurant, I had a good feeling just from the smell alone. Since my dad knew who was at the register, we stood there for a moment talking after we ordered. The customer service was great, not only with us but with the way they treat all the customers who come in.
Overall I really liked going out to get the shawarmas, we hadn’t gotten them in a while and the last time we did from somewhere they were a little disappointing. I had a good time and definitely liked the food. The place inside looked very nice, the food was good, they had new menus that looked very nice, and they had special boxes for each shawarma. I would recommend this place, I had a really good time and enjoyed the food a lot.

Although my overall experience was positive, there are a few things I noticed and read in the reviews. The new menu and old menu contradicted the things that were put in each shawarma…so we didn’t know we had to ask to add something since it was on the first menu that my dad had. The menu my dad was given was the first menu made when they were just starting out, it was more of a working menu. By the time I went with him, they had their official menu made.
Online, people tend to have very positive opinions about this restaurant after visiting. The majority of people rated this restaurant five stars, and out of one hundred twenty eight people, the overall rating is a 4.7. Most restaurants around don’t even have ratings that high, and this being a new restaurant and getting good reviews like that must mean the community is responding to it well. There were many positive reviews from people who had ordered the Chicken Shawarma, most said they loved it. It seems to be a common order, and nearly everyone who ordered it rated it five stars.
Personally, I like the chicken cream chop shawarma the best. I have tried both the chicken and beef shawarmas and still end up liking the chicken cream chop one. They come with lettuce, tomatoes and turshi. For reference, turshi is pickled vegetables and is paired with a lot of middle eastern foods. I got mine with no tomatoes, with the lettuce and turshi that it comes with, then added pickles and hummus. My favorite thing is the individual boxes each shawarma comes in, and they are also always neatly wrapped with nothing spilling out.
I now have a new option for when I want middle eastern food. I had a really good time and again, loved the chicken cream chop shawarma. My first time going to Zara Eatery was very positive, and although I was a little unsure on the way, after I had the food I loved it and would go again. I would definitely recommend it to other people. I still want to try other things that they have there, since I’ve only had shawarma. Very good customer service, it’s a beautiful space, and it’s an independent, family-owned business. Go support a new local business!
