Laker Update anchor, reporter and producer, Max Columbus, is attending the Washington Journalism and Media Conference this week in Washington, D.C., after being nominated by broadcasting instructor, Jennifer Williamson.
The Washington Journalism and Media Conference brings together high-achieving high school students from across the country who have demonstrated excellence and potential in journalism and media. The program provides participants with opportunities to learn from professional journalists, media executives and communications leaders while exploring careers in broadcasting, digital media, print journalism and public relations.

Throughout the week, Columbus is participating in workshops, leadership sessions and discussions focused on the evolving media landscape, ethical journalism and the role of a free press. The conference also offers opportunities to collaborate with students from across the nation and gain firsthand experience with current issues facing the journalism profession.

Columbus serves as an anchor, reporter and producer for Laker Update, producing stories that inform the school community while continuing to develop skills in reporting, writing, producing and on-camera presentation. His selection to attend the conference recognizes his dedication to student journalism and commitment to the field.
