Homecoming weekend is already on its way. Students at the high school have the chance to run for homecoming court. The court gets to take part in the pep rally, parade, and halftime. The court will be determined by each class when they vote for two of their peers to represent the classes queen or king.
Before the results were posted Alayah Johnson shared what it’s like running for court and what makes her the best candidate. While it may seem like a popularity contest, for Johnson, she had people by her side to encourage her to step outside her comfort zone and see what kind of memories she could make during her time in high school.
“My Dad convinced me to take part because he thought it would be a good memory to look back on in the future with,” Johnson stated.
Johnson is a cheerleader, she spends her time at practice training as both base and flyer in stunts. At Junior Varsity games you will notice her calling out cheers. Being able to manage her academic and athletic life shows the strength of a queen. However her role as a cheerleader reflects on what she enjoys doing on a regular school day.
“I look forward to the end of the day where extracurricular activities are held.”
Being voted by your class also represents how your class sees you as a person, for Johnson her personality can be described in multiple traits which reflects the personality of a queen.
“I’m a very humorous person, especially when I’m around my friends, I’m always happy and uplifting to others.”
Johnson has huge plans for her future and the effort she puts into her schoolwork is all to benefit her strong future ahead. Johnson has large plans ahead to get her closer to her dreams and why she does what she does. Her plans ahead reflect the mindset of a queen.
“I hope to be having good grades and to go to college and feel prospered. I want to have a big house and to be a mom. I hope to become a nurse, a realtor, or just on general television.”
Johnson is thrilled about the pep rally this Friday and how excited everyone should be for it and believes it will be better than last year’s. She said
“I’m going to be participating in the pep rally performing my cheer routine and hopefully I will be seated at the bottom of the bleachers in the reserved court spot.”
Lastly the big and exciting day is homecoming and Johnson has a lot to look forward to as queen. She said
“I’m most looking forward to getting ready and dressing up with friends.”
