Everyone loves the thrill and adrenaline rush they get when they attend a Haunted House, not to mention the suspense of ‘what will happen next’. The halloween industry is one of the fastest growing industries in America, and has profited over 11 billion dollars within the last 10 years, from its initial 1 billion dollars. With the high interest in halloween decor, many Americans have started to partake in the haunted house interest, and open their own haunted houses. Many Michigan members have hopped on this trend by opening their own haunted houses, making Michigan home to one of the biggest haunted houses in America. The Spectrum staff has gathered together the Top 10 Haunted Houses located throughout Michigan.

 

10. Dark Legacy Haunted House

Dark Legacy Haunted House is located in Wixom, Michigan, about 9.6 miles from West Bloomfield High School. Dark Legacy Haunted House is broken into three haunts: the Government owned haunt (GOH), the Kensington Detention Center, and Fang cemetery.

9. The Haunted Hallow

The Haunted Hallow is located in Augusta, Michigan, about 103.60 miles from West Bloomfield High School. At the Haunted Hallow a group of people called “The Crazies” are out and looking for you while you walk over 1/2 miles of wooded trails at The Olde World Village with over 25 scenes and their very own ever changing maze of despair. The Haunted Hallows is open at 8p.m. and anyone in line by midnight will be allowed to enter every Friday and Saturday nights through October. Admission is only $10 per victim, or $15 per line jump. The Haunted Hallow is not recommended for victims under 17.

8. Jackson’s Underworld

Jackson’s Underworld is a professionally built attraction located in Jackson, Michigan, about 59.07 miles from West Bloomfield High School. Jackson’s Underworld is rated one of the largest and scariest Haunted Houses in the United States. The Haunted House is 3 stories, over 45,000 sq ft, on averages 45 minutes, and just under one mile long of creature lurking, thrill seeking, adrenaline rushing, goose bump raising, heart racing haunted attraction! Jackson’s Underworld has everything from extremely high tech animatronics and digital special effects to creepy creatures lurking about. In addition to being an indoor haunt they also offer indoor waiting, so don’t let the weather stop you from getting your scare on. Tickets at the Door: $20.00 per person. 7. Bone Yard

The Bone Yard is located in Stockbridge Michigan, about 41.33 miles from West Bloomfield High School. The Bone Yard is a Halloween Scream Park with 4 terrifying haunted attractions: The Freak Show Haunted House, Deadwood Forest Haunted Woods, Scarecrow Hollow Haunted Corn Maze, and Route 666 haunted hayride… they measure fear by acres not square feet. The Haunted House is open Sep 19th to Oct 31st, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 until the last body falls. Ticket sales are from 8 to 11:30

6. Hush Haunted Attraction

Hush Haunted Attraction is located in Westland, Michigan about 19.71 miles from West Bloomfield High School. Hush Haunted Attraction was named Michigan’s ‘Haunt of the Year’ for their inaugural 2013 season by independent reviewer Horror-lust. This was followed by being voted as one of Metro Detroit’s Top 5 Haunted Attractions by Channel 4 News. In 2014 this attraction came back, three times the size, completely rebuilt, and introduced something never before seen; ‘The Incinerator’ a burned alive experience! The Haunt is located in Walker, Michigan about 129.9 miles from West Bloomfield High school. The Haunt offers 4 Attractions: THE HAUNT: (indoor) 1/4 mile walk through Haunted House. The Realm of Darkness is located in Pontiac, Michigan about 5.54 Miles from West Bloomfield High School. After a devastating flood in January, The Realm of Darkness opens with 33 new rooms and a jaw dropping 25,000 square foot haunted attraction. The meticulously decorated medieval themed haunt will test your guile as well as your wits, as you’re transported to Flagstone castle. You will try to meet and then defeat the evil wizard and his demented brother. Actors will aid in your quest by helping you discover gems that will increase your chances at completing your task. Denise Siess, the owner and operator, is generally acknowledged as one of the best haunt decorators/ builders in the country, has done it again. The Ghost Ship, build is worth the price of admission alone, DO NOT MISS IT!

Phobia House is located in Plainwell, Michigan about 117.26 miles from West Bloomfield High School. Phobia House is a traditional haunt and a phobia infested nightmare. Phobia House offer an all inclusive 16,666 square foot experience all under one roof and for one price. They have indoor and covered waiting areas so you do not have to wait outdoors in the cold rain or snow,  as well as a large lighted parking lot, and indoor bathrooms. Phobia House is an indoor attraction, which has been rated one of the scariest haunted house attractions in Michigan for fifteen consecutive years! “We challenge you to FACE YOUR FEARS!” You can visit Phobia House on Ebay where they sell masks, props, and special effects that they manufacture right there in Kalamazoo Michigan.Their Ebay name is timid-rabbit. Phobia House has a brick and mortar theatrical retail and rental shop with over 11,000 costume rental costume pieces and over 5,000 props. If they do not have what you are looking for they can often manufacture it for you.

Erebus is located in Pontiac, Michigan about 4.83 Miles from West Bloomfield. Erebus is undeniably one of the most popular and recognizable Haunted Houses in the United States. Erebus opened in 2000 by what was formerly an old parking garage.  Erebus is The World’s Largest Haunted House! Erebus is a 4 story Haunted House and was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s Largest Walk-Through Haunted Attraction in 2005. EREBUS by Webster’s definition is the darkness beneath the Earth that the dead must pass to reach Hades.
