Stone Heart

you smiled at me, and looked my way

the only light from you that day

you laughed and cheered and kept by me

never thought you’d leave for three

one, because you felt no pain

no emotion for you to gain

and so you went on, thoughts of throttle

came home and numbed sorrow by bottle

two is when you reached half-way

and saw no reason to wake and play

rainbow tablets, two by two

some to blow, and some to chew

three is where we meet again

though i never said, “i loved you, friend”

and so you rest by willow’s tree

your name in stone because of three
