Gibbs Drops Another Album

Freddie Gibbs AKA, Fredrick Jamel Tipton released his 5th Solo Studio album the Triple $. Freddie Gibbs is a decently known artist with 3,888,280 listeners. In this album he worked with The Alchemist, Boi-1da, DJ Dahi, DJ Paul, and Madlib. Together they were able to achieve some great tracks throughout the album. This Album is definitely one I would come back and listen to because of its unique sound it brings. Specifically I recommend the tracks Blackest In The Room, Decoded, Too Much, and Couldn’t Be Done.

Throughout the album you begin to notice a hotel casino theme, this is shown at the end of some tracks that help transition into the next song, this makes listening to the whole album in order very entertaining. Another thing that stood out to me was the various features on the album. For example Scarface on the track “Decoded”, Pusha T on “Gold Rings”, Offset on “Pain & Strife”, and to open the album, Kelly Price on “Couldn’t be done”. Most of these artists are more popular than Freddie which shows Gibbs trying to advertise his album to some of the featured fans.

This is Freddie Gibbs’ collab album with well known producer Madlib, Bandana. “Crime Pays”, and “Gat Damn” specifically shine on this project

The track “Couldn’t Be Done” gives a great lively intro to the album with great sounds from Kelly Price and the trumpets and the fast vocals from Freddie that we love. Following up we have my personal favorite track, “Blackest In The Room”. This track starts off nice and gentle with a calm melody from what sounds like flutes. Then around the halfway mark we hear a switch up that makes this song special for me. “Space Rabbit” was another track that surprised me, this track really added more to the theme of the hotel casino and added by giving a darker picture. Next the most popular song on the album with around 19k listens. We see more listeners on this track because of the feature of popular artist “Pusha T”. The song that really sums up the album for me is “Decoded” with Scarface, this track has an incredible melody that I could listen to again and again. Scarface, someone Freddie looks up to and listens to does a great job with the vocals and makes the song really special. After listening to this project I realized that the production was done by more than just Madlib or the Alchemist as they were done fully by one or the other in past projects. This shows more growth for Freddie and gives different sounds to this album.

Freddie Gibbs’ other popular collab album with the Alchemist, Alfredo. “Scottie Beam”, and “Something to rap about” with Tyler The Creator Shine in this project

After listening to this project I realized that the production was done by more than just Madlib or the Alchemist as they were done fully by one or the other in past projects. After listening to this project I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. This album further proves that Freddie is a great artist with lots of talent. Make sure to go check it out and see what you think of the tracks and the album as a whole.
