Volleyball and football both won district titles at home on Friday, Nov. 8.

The volleyball match against Walled Lake Central began at 5 p.m. After four sets, the teams were tied, 2-2. In the last set, played to 15, the Lakers came out on top. Senior Lauren King ended the game with 25 kills, six blocks, eight digs and five aces. The Swamp cheered for the girls as they celebrated the win of their first district title since 1991.

The Swamp ran outside of the high school at 6:58 p.m., right after the volleyball match, to make it to the field in time for kickoff. The football team shutout Plymouth High School with a score of 35-0. Senior quarterback C.J. Harrison was played sparingly due to an injury, so junior running back Donovan Edwards stepped up. Edwards scored three touchdowns in the first half.

The football team is headed to Belleville for regionals on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. This game will be a rematch of last year’s regional defeat against Belleville.

The volleyball team swept Troy High School in the regional semi-final on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. at Stoney Creek. They advanced to the regional final against Lake Orion High School. They will play on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek.
