First Quarter Reflection

What a great first quarter!

First Quarter Reflection

The first quarter at West Bloomfield High School (WBHS) was definitely one to remember. Highlights such as homecoming and the Laker’s outstanding football season raised school spirit and promoted high school sports. Before the high school gets too far into the second quarter of the school year, we reflect on what went well academically and socially.

“Academically, my first quarter has been really good. When I started out some of the classes were easier than I thought and some were a little different than middle school so I had to get used to it, but once I got through it all worked out good. Socially, it’s fun meeting new people and working with them, and there is a lot more freedom in high school.

— Sarah Albani, Freshman

“Soccer was fun, school was pretty easy and like middle school. For big tests I need to study more, I need to focus on my academics, and focus on spanish.

— Robert Sylvester, Freshman

“Junior year is really hard, so the academics is at a new level—plus we took the ACT in the first quarter. It’s also really hard socially because you’re spending so much of your time over the weekend doing homework, but I think I have it balanced.

— Lexi Michaels, Junior

I got really good grades in the first quarter of school.

— Pooja Natarajan, Sophomore

“[The first quarter] was super fun. It is my senior year, and everyone is super excited. With things going on over the weekends, everyone is having a good time. Academically, it has been harder than I thought it would be. Everyone thinks senior year is easy, but it’s really not because you have to balance college applications and AP classes, but I’m doingwell.

— Ren Veasey, Senior

“I got some more friends, so its good. Academically, I have gotten smarter and better”

— Jack Hare, Junior

I liked how at the football games we were all together, that was fun.

— Shion Otsuka, Freshman

“My first quarter went well. I had good grades during the first quarter. I studied a little every night, and I made new friends.

— Stephanie Jabro, Senior

Through being in the theater program, I have acquired more friends that I may not have met before and it’s chill.

— Grace Trivax, Freshman

“Good, in every way.”

— Mathew Taub, Junior

My first quarter has been really good, busy but still really good. Both kids coming up the promethean board and using it, and the using the online textbooks are going really well

— Diane Abel, teacher

“My first quarter, socially, was so much fun! There was football games and homecoming. Just the excitement of the beginning of the school year, and it is my senior year. Academically was stressful because not only am I taking AP classes but I am also applying to college. All in all, it was a great first quarter.

— Jaeina Limbo, Senior

At West Bloomfield High School, I enjoyed the teachers and environment of the classrooms.

— Ceceille Pinnock, Freshman

“The highlight of first quarter was watching students, especially the freshmen adjust to higher levels of performance at the high school, because I really get the sense that they are not used to having the amount of work that they have at the high school, and by the end of the first quarter they get it.

During first quarter I got to know a lot of new friends form Orchard Lake Middle School (OLMS), since I went to Abbott, so I got to know people from the other school.

— Kasper Zemajtis, Freshman

“I think [the first quarter] went pretty well, I had a lot of fun, and I did pretty well at the same time.”

— Johnny Nirenberg, Senior
